Job Summary

The BI Developer II role will be responsible for the development of the most ideal data environment for the organization to conduct analytical insight, product business operations and make informed business decisions. Working closely with other members of the Business Intelligence team and stakeholders across the organization they will maintain ETL pipelines, build complex data models, and produce impactful reports/dashboards.

About the right team member

Responsible for architecting and maintaining the business logic underpinning our analytics database to serve as the company’s source of truth for business reporting, operations and insights. Ensure data is available and provide analysis to help the business reach it's objectives. The Data Analysis team gathers data and uses strong data manipulation and analytical skills to translate it into insights, dashboards and reports.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree, in a quantitative field preferred
  • 2-4 years' experience in a similar role, within a high growth environment preferred in Data Analytics or similar role that involves data modeling and/or SQL-based data transformation and analytics 
  • Proficiency and advanced proficiency in some the following tools, languages, and platforms: SQL, Excel, any BI Tool (Looker, Tableau, Power BI), Data Modeling experience.
  • Great to have skills: Proficiency in ETL, Snowflake, Github, dbt, proficiency with analytics tools (Amplitude, Pendo)
  • Ability to present data in a simple, clean, concise visual and written manner.
  •  Must have a strong understanding of business-side implications of work; needs to keep up with what’s going on with the business, feel comfortable with collaborating with business stakeholders at all levels of seniority to understand their data needs
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment 
  • Experience developing data models and databases at a nascent or rapidly scaling business 
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and highly organized Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Understanding and knowledge of SaaS industry business metrics and strategy
  • Must be business-centric, data-oriented, analytically minded and results driven 
  • Must be able to effectively plan and manage time and responsibilities autonomously 
  • Strong technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to quickly evaluate and learn new technologies 
  • Advanced critical thinking skills to scope and frame problems

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize BI tools and work with Data Analytics to create and manage reports, dashboards, and data marts that are critical for the centralization of business metrics and KPIs 
  • Work closely with business to align on business logic to design, create, and operationalize business logic into source of truth data models in Enterprise Data Warehouse and surface them through selfservice BI tools 
  • Build out and maintain data models to provide business critical information to various functions across the company 
  • Develop data models used to audit, automate, and report on data across production, business, and 3rd party systems 
  • Produce technical documentation of data sources, metrics definitions and key initiatives 
  • Knowledge about the company's data infrastructure, business processes, and key metrics 
  • Create presentations, graphs, dashboards, etc. to display findings and results utilizing Excel, Tableau, PowerPoint, etc. 
  • Must be comfortable with constantly evolving environment and rapidly changing priorities 
  • All other duties as assigned

Work environment and travel requirements 

  • This role regularly utilizes a computer, including the use of a monitor, mouse and keyboard. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.

Scope of supervision/Authority 

  • Duties are performed under limited supervision. Often responsible for planning and organizing their own work, which may or may not be directly related to general business operations of the company or its customers. Will receive training and guidance from manager as needed. Individual contributors may be required to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance depending on the nature of the position. No direct management responsibility.
