About The RoleThe Data Engineer III focuses on designing, implementing and supporting new and existing data solutions- data processing and data sets to support various advanced analytical needs. This role designs, builds and supports data pipelines consuming data from multiple source systems and transforms it into valuable and insightful information. The role is also responsible for creating scalable & conformed data models to support reporting and analytics functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:• 7+ years of relevant experience in one of the following areas: Data engineering, Data Warehousing or business and data analytics, ETL/ELT Architecture.• 5-6 years of supporting a large data platform and data pipelining.• 5+ years of experience in scripting languages like Python, SQL and data orchestration tools like – Databricks.• 4+ years of expertise in working with cloud-based data warehouses like Snowflake.• Basic to intermediate knowledge and experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, DMS etc.) • Expertise in database design and architectural principles and methodologies• Experienced in physical and logical data modeling.• Technical expertise should include data models, database design and data mining• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and highly organized• Desire to work in a fast paced, potentially ambiguous, start-up-like atmosphere• Strong technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to quickly evaluate and learn new technologies• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, implement, and support a platform providing access to large datasets• Create unified enterprise data models for analytics and reporting• Design and build robust and scalable data integration (ETL) pipelines using SQL, Python and Data Bricks.• As part of Agile development team contribute to architecture, tools and development process improvements• Work in close collaboration with product management, peer system and software engineering teams to clarify requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, operable solutions that work well within the overall data architecture• Coordinate data models, data dictionaries, and other database documentation across multiple applications• Leads design reviews of data deliverables such as models, data flows, and data quality assessments• Promotes data modeling standardization, defines and drives adoption of the standards• Work with Data Management to establish governance processes around metadata to ensure an integrated definition of data for enterprise information, and to ensure the accuracy, validity, and reusability of metadata• All other duties as assigned
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.• This position is mostly stationary and will be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time.• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
SCOPE OF SUPERVISION/AUTHORITY:Duties are performed under limited supervision. Often responsible for planning and organizing their own work, which may or may not be directly related to general business operations of the company or its customers. Will receive training and guidance from manager as needed. Individual contributors may be required to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance depending on the nature of the position. No direct management responsibility
