About the right team member

We are looking for a highly motivated, analytically driven, strategic tax professional to join our Finance team. This role will report to the Lead Financial Accountant in Brazil, will work closely with the US tax group, and will play an instrumental part in assisting with the indirect tax compliance of multiple jurisdictions where the company operates and compliance with statutory reporting requirements. In this role, you will work closely with the Finance team and cross-functionally to ensure all reporting, operational processes, and ad hoc projects are completed efficiently and in accordance with local tax law. To succeed in this role, you will need a comprehensive understanding of tax compliance for a multinational company, sound business judgment, as well as strong problem solving and analytical skills.

About the role

  • Responsible for indirect tax compliance filings including working with accounting data, personnel, and outside advisors
  • Assist global tax compliance and external tax advisors in the preparation of various indirect tax filings to ensure accurate and timely filings, mainly focusing on VAT and GST
  • Perform general accounting functions including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, transfer pricing calculations, and sub-ledger reconciliations
  • Monitor and analyze financial transactions to ensure accounting records are complete and accurate
  • Participate in the annual financial audit process including interactions with internal and external auditors
  • Assist with other tax related projects on an ad hoc basis and general administrative tasks
  • Assist with other compliance projects such as federal census requests and Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts Report (FBAR) on an ad hoc basis

Skills & experience

  • Must speak fluent english
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or Taxation (Commerce)
  • Chartered Accountant
  • One to three years of progressive experience
  • Knowledge of indirect tax strongly preferred, VAT/GST is a plus
  • Proficient in NetSuite or equivalent ERP applications
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must work collaboratively and possess a strong work ethic
  • Must be comfortable interacting with external tax advisors
  • Track record of identifying inefficiencies and developing solutions to improve processes
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
