Your roleAs a Staff Platform Engineer you will be part of a team responsible for designing, building, and delivering Infrastructure-as-Code applications to developer teams across Mindbody + ClassPass. You will drive cloud infrastructure architecture, iterate with developer teams and their cloud-based workloads, and build tools to positively impact the developer experience. We help developer teams build faster and with higher quality. We create space for technical enhancement, automation, and community engagement. You will be part of team working to design, implement, and operate cloud infrastructure that powers the Mindbody + ClassPass ecosystem. You will pursue continuous improvement to help Mindbody achieve its mission: Powering the world’s fitness and wellness businesses and connecting them with more consumers, more effectively, than anyone else. You'll likely spend time working on- Continually improving the architecture, performance, and the capabilities of the primary Infrastructure-as-Code product at Mindbody + ClassPass.
- Designing, building, and operating production software in AWS Cloud environments in service of developer enablement and customer-facing products.
- Leveraging languages, frameworks, and tools such as TypeScript, Golang, Pulumi, and Kubernetes.
- Exercising your deep knowledge of AWS Services and architecture to help lead software and infrastructure net-new build outs and migrations, communicating best practices proactively to developer teams.
- Building resilient, scalable systems using strong foundations in operating systems, distributed systems, systems profiling, and Observability practices and tooling.
- Discovering problem areas across engineering squads, and driving projects incrementally and iteratively through their lifecycle from problem definition to technical architecture to launch.
- Collaborating with a thoughtful, inclusive, engaged engineering team while growing your technical capabilities and your professional career.
- Contributing to strategic roadmaps and providing guidance and expertise on system options, risk, cost vs benefits, and impacts on departmental processes and goals.
- 8+ years of industry experience with frequent, incremental code, testing, and deployment.
- 8+ years of industry experience developing software and infrastructure services in virtualized or public cloud environments.
- Building and deploying services using Cloud services, Egress/Ingress, Load Balancing, Resource and Identity Management, and Cloud best practices to deliver successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience successfully partnering with software developer teams to migrate legacy services into modern Cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and improving legacy and active products and services using Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Pulumi, Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible, or similar).
- A deep understanding of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices in containerized environments (Helm, Flagger, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, or similar).
- Experience mentoring peer developers in architecture, scalability, performance, and observability best practices and tools.
- An ability to lead through ambiguity, drive high-impact project work, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating and working on production incidents in high-pressure, blameless environments.
- Bonus if you have experience supporting containerized workloads in production on AWS (EKS or native Kubernetes a plus!)
